After watching this, I think that there is a great deal of validity to many of the man's points. The part that resonated the most with me is when he said “if God exists, I don’t think much of his attitude” (and I assume he is referring to Christianity here). The point he makes is one of my biggest problems with Christianity. I personally feel that it is too much to ask of human beings (or at least THIS human being) who inhabit this rather severe planet for the span of 70 or 80 years to “believe;” have “faith," unconditionally, in a deity that has never personally shown himself or touched my life in ANY way, for as long as I have been here. God doesn’t listen to me and never has. God has never received me (at least not to my knowledge), and I have asked many times. I don’t ask anymore, because I don’t believe anyone is listening. Has this completely extinguished the Christian faith that I was raised in and tried so hard to believe for 40 years? Not completely, but IF God does exist, I’m plenty pissed off at him after all this time. That is not so say that I am not a spiritual person, I am very much a spiritual person. But IF God exists, I just don’t get it (him). I have pretty much made peace with that. That said —
The reason that faith deserves respect is because people need to believe in something bigger and more benevolent than ourselves, whatever one’s idea of “God” may be. To attempt to take that away, by ANY form of dogma (including this man’s), is to inflict cruelty on your fellow man. Perhaps the worst kind of cruelty.

Says who? I don't have any such belief and I'm doing just fine. The only thing that is bigger and more important than me is my family or my community, both of which are just groups of people. People are what's important, not some fantasy in the sky. A little bit of empathy can completely replace all religion and help the world rather than harm it (the way religion does)
