 Kerry wins endorsement race

Here are the final numbers on newspaper endorsements for the 2004 presidential race:
                     newspapers total      daily circulation

    John Kerry            175                 18,757,511  

    George W. Bush        138                 12,068,720
What's notable about these figures is that Kerry has picked up the endorsements of 43 papers that endorsed Bush in 2000. Another 16 from the president's column in 2000 have gone neutral. In contrast, Bush has gained seven from the Al Gore column in 2000.
